BAU-BIOLOGIE literally means "Building Biology"

A term coined in Germany, is a word used to describe a movement promoting the use of healthy building principles as a means to improve living, school and work spaces and the health of the people who occupy them...and is characterized by the terms: biological, ecological, sensitive to nature, healthy, vital human, organic, high quality, cultural and holistic. It specifically refers to the study of the IMPACT OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT ON HUMAN HEALTH AND THE APPLICATION OF THIS KNOWLEDGE to the construction or modification of homes, schools and workplaces.

...AND GOES BEYOND GREEN

Everything depends on everything else. Much more than the simple art of placement, the 4,000 year old practice of feng shui begins with common sense as its guiding force while basing its principles on architecture, astrology, design, ecology, geomancy and the mystical. Feng shui as a tool for the analytical processes of urban & single site planning, building program, floor plans, circulation, materials, colors, furniture and accessory placement within a space — manages an holistic interplay between man and his environment.

Concerns for building practices begin with the quality of the land:

  1. Evaluating the energy of the site & its surroundings: Direction & orientation. The flow of vital energy throughout the site & its buildings.
  2. Evaluating the quality of that energy: Landforms, water & roadways, traffic patterns.
  3. Analysis of the landforms: Location, number, size & dimension,
  4. Analysis of the subtler energies within the earth itself or geomancy:
    Leylines, underground waterways, dragon veins.

...Architectural forms, textures, materials, modulation of light and shade, color, all combine to inject a quality or spirit that articulates space. The quality of the architecture will be determined by the skill of the designer in using and relating these elements, both in the interior spaces and in the spaces around buildings. ~ Edmund N. Bacon — The Design of Cities, 1974

Architecture and Interior Design the Feng Shui consultant will evaluate, through a series of overlay maps, dowsing and other analytical tools—floor plans, circulation patterns and a variety of planned programs within each of the sectors of the building envelope. Questing for chi or vital energy—moving—or flowing with ease throughout the space is the ideal for the beginning creation of health, success and prosperity for any structure and the individuals who occupy it.

Employing the Principles of Building Biology:

  1. Promote the use of the most sustainable & green resources.
  2. Endorsing non-toxic materials for the health of the individuals in the construction, manufacture, as well as for those utilizing the built space.
  3. Remaining sensitive to nature, organic, high quality and holistic.
  4. Concerns the impact of all aspects of the built environment on human health.

BUSINESS . RETAIL . NON-PROFIT

What does the synergistic application of Feng Shui, Bau‐Biology & Design …have to do with it?

  1. Unleashing opportunities for new visions by enhancing your power base.
  2. Maximizing positive potential while curing for imbalanced energies.
  3. Optimize your floor plan and space layout for quality, efficiency and improving the bottom line through:
    • Evaluation of energy flow
      • Form &
      • Bagua analysis
    • Interior design recommendations regarding
      • Space
      • Line
      • Balance
      • Color
      • Shape
      • Texture
      • Form
      • Unity
    • Environmental Consciousness through the principles of Building‐Biology.
      • Energy Efficiency Details
      • Improved Design & Planning
      • Ecologically friendly

Our homes are manifestations of our spirit. The dwellings we choose & the way we decorate them reflect who we are & what	we hope to become. In turn, our personalities are profoundly influenced by our surroundings. In a sense, our homes are our destinies.

RESIDENTIAL and GARDEN

Through the applied system and analytical tools of aesthetics by way of feng shui, architecture and interior design; as well as the holistic practices of geomancy and baubiology — a comprehensive exterior/interior residential consultation can uncover patterns or obstacles that are potentially blocking one or more of the occupants
of a home.

These patterns may show up in a variety of forms — from sleeplessness, to performing poorly in school, to the slow development of chronic pain to a
full blown illness. For these, adjustments and/or cures will be
recommended.

During a consultation it may become clear that, i.e., a change in the
interior color palette would enhance certain sectors of a space, the
addition of certain art pieces can modify a mood or increase beneficial
energy, the recommendation of plans for organizing spaces can bring
greater efficiency along with enhanced chi.

The consultation will be informed by the client's objectives and intentions.

The Ultimate Goal of Feng Shui
(which incorporates geomancy or energy dowsing—a powerful skill that can be used to harness natural forces, turning into the Earth's energy for the creation of health, Harmony and well being)... is to attract vital energy (chi) into your environment(s) — wherever they may be; home, school, business, office, village, town, city, state or country.

Nothing blocks chi like clutter—get rid of it: go through it, redistribute it,
"use it or lose it!"

Some of the techniques and tools used to analyze the environment:

  1. Form: The study of landforms, site shapes, direction of roads and water ways (visible and unseen). I include a history of the land, any structures and prior occupants.
  2. Bagua: 'Ba' eight, 'Gua' section plus the center (tai chi), making nine in all — Is a Symbolic map based on the I Ching—with each section representing a particular energy pattern (from nature)—placed over any area of analysis, i.e. a site, a floor plan, a room, a desk & so on. Contained in this analysis are the energies of Yin (feminine) and Yang (masculine).
  3. Five Element Theory: The key to creating balance in any space and represented through color, shape, texture & life form=Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.
  4. Nine Star Ki: Japanese astrological system with the Five Elements as the basis.
  5. Four Pillars of Destiny: Your life in ten year cycles, also with the Five Elements as the basis.

Building Biology promotes the use of the most local, sustainable and green resources and concerns the impact of all aspects of the built environment on Human Health.

A Basic Consultation uses the above techniques, arriving at a strategy designed to enhance the potential of areas analyzed — while lessening or eliminating any inauspicious blockages and/or energies. As a matter of course, the recommendation of cures would be simple, direct and within the client's budget. Inclusive with the consultation fee are a three, six and twelve month follow-up visit.
